Navagraha or the Nine Planets has great importance in Hinduism and Hindu rituals.

Navagrahas are considered to play a major role in deciding the destiny of man. The Navagrahas are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangal (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Lunar Node) and Ketu (South Lunar Node).

Lalitha Sahasranama Stotram

Lalitha Sahasranamam (1000 names of devi) is a secret and very sacred text or mantra in Hindu religion.

This mantra has been revealed to mankind through the discussion between Lord Hayagriva and the great Sage Agasthya.

It is very popular and many of us recite it on a daily basis or at least on Fridays.

Kolaru Pathigam - கோளறு பதிகம்

Please click on this link to download the Tamil lyrics of Koralu Pathigam, a 10-stanza poem on Lord Shiva  from Thevaram by Saint ThirugnaanaSambandar, to ward of all planetary afflictions.

These verses were composed when the saint was told that the time was inauspicious to proceed to challenge his adversaries in an intellectual-spiritual debate. The blessed young saint said the planets would never affect the devotees of the Lord and sang the ten verses, for the benefit of his followers.

You can recite this on all Tuesdays and Fridays.

Site for the devotees of Shri Kanchi Paramacharya

Let us seek the blessings of the Almighty as we welcome this New Year.

There are several individuals who are writing blogs and websites purely to spread the teachings of reverend sages in India. There are others who maintain a repository of slokas, mantras, articles, etc for the benefit of people who have an inclination towards spirituality.

There have been many occasions where I have found  an interesting article about a topic I was not aware of, and sometimes, I have found answers to some questions in one of these sites.

I plan to dedicate this month's writing to all such individuals who are dedicating their time and energy for such a noble cause.

I will first start with a site dedicated to spread the life and teachings of Shri Kanchi Paramacharya.

Please visit www.periva.org a non-commercial website launched to mark the Aradhana day of Sri Maha Periva on 21 Dec 2011. Members in the group share information related to Sri Maha Periva in the form of photos, articles, audio and video files. If you are interested, please join this absolutely non-profit network to benefit from the host of information shared in this site.

May the Almighty shower his choicest blessings on each one of us this New Year.

Wish you all a Very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and a Prosperous New Year 2012.

Cheers!
