Honey, Honey and Honey

In our constant endeavour to make available the best organic products for consumption, we are pleased to introduce our next product - Wild Raw Forest Honey.

Please see pictures below. I would call it Pure Liquid Gold!

Some quick facts on our Raw Forest Honey to answer any queries you may have.

1. This Honey is collected from the wild by the indigenous tribe and forest dwellers from hills in the Western Ghats.

2. We do not add any flavour to it

3. It has high moisture content due to high humidity in forest areas, and hence more liquid.

4. We do not reduce moisture content of forest honey by heating, as it will reduce the quality of honey.

5. The Honey is darker in colour when compared to the blossom honey.

6. The taste, texture and sweetness of the Honey is dependent on the time of the year, floral source and weather conditions.

7. Generally the Wild Forest Honey has a stronger flavour with a woody taste and leaves an after taste. It has less aroma.

8. Unheated, unpasteurized and unprocessed, this magnificent treasure from mother nature is packed with all the delicate enzymes, anti-oxidants and minerals which all of us need to stay healthy.

9. Raw and unfiltered honey has a high antioxidant level and will usually granulate and crystallize to a thick consistency after a few months.

10. Little kids may not like the taste as it is not as sweet as blossom honey. But it is excellent for adults as it is packed with medicinal qualities.

Why is Raw Honey better than regular Honey?

* Raw Honey is the most original sweet liquid that honey bees produce from the concentrated nectar of flowers.

* Raw Honey contains all the enzymes, anti-oxidants and minerals

* These can be destroyed on heating and processing.

How do you test the purity of Honey? Once you buy our product, try any or all of the following methods.

1. Take a teaspoon of our Raw Wild Forest Honey and put in a glass full of water. Adulterated Honey will dissolve, while pure Honey will settle at the bottom of the glass.

2. Place a small amount of Honey on your thumb and check if spills or spreads around like any other liquid. If it does, it may not be pure. Pure honey is thick while impure honey will be runny.

3. Pure Honey is inflamable. Take a dry matchstick and dip it in the Honey.  Strike the matchstick against the matchbox.  If it lights, your Honey is pure.

Here are some pictures of our most recent consignment of the Original Raw Forest Honey.

Fresh Rosemary leaves

Dried Rosemary leaves

Our next product now available – Dried Rosemary leaves.

Rosmarinus officinalis, commonly known as Rosemary (Thalisabatri in Tamil) is an aromatic, exotic evergreen herb which has multiple culinary and cosmetic uses. The herb has been hailed since ancient times for its medicinal properties too. Not only does it have a wonderful taste and aroma, but also a wealth of beneficial health effects if regularly added to our diet.

Rosemary is a rich source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, Rosemary was traditionally used to help alleviate muscle pain, improve memory, boost the immune system, improve blood circulation and promote hair growth.

The leaves – both fresh and dried ones are used to flavour foods such as soups, sauces, salads, stuffing’s, deserts and meat. When added to roast potatoes with garlic, they are truly yummy!

Here are some health benefits of Rosemary - known in Tamil as Thalisabatri leaves which is used in Siddha Medicine for treating respiratory disorders.

  • Rosemary is rich in dietary fiber and contains no cholesterol.
  • Rosemary has so much of vitamin A that a few leaves a day in the diet would almost meet the requirement for optimal vision. Vitamin A is also required for maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin.
  • Rosemary has many therapeutic effects and helps in the management of many disorders and diseases as well.
  • Memory Booster - The early Greeks and Romans threw sprigs of rosemary into the graves to signify their desire to remember the departed. Even Ophelia mentioned ‘there's rosemary, that's for remembrance’ in Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
  • Mood and Stress: The aroma of rosemary alone has been linked to improving mood, clearing the mind, and relieving stress in those with chronic anxiety or stress hormone imbalances
  • Strengthens the Immune System
  • Stomach Soother: Rosemary has traditionally been used by dozens of cultures as a natural remedy for upset stomachs, constipation, bloating, diarrhea, and everything in between. Its anti-inflammatory and stimulant effects are largely the cause of these effects, so adding it to your weekly diet can quickly help you regulate your bowel movements and your gastrointestinal system.
  • Breath Freshener: As a natural antibacterial agent, rosemary works as a wonderful breath freshener that also improves your oral health. Steep rosemary leaves in a glass of hot water and then gargle or swish the water in your mouth to eliminate bacteria and give you naturally fresh and clean breath.
  • Helps to Stimulate Blood Flow
  • Pain Relief: One of the most popular uses of rosemary is for the treatment of migraines. Applying a decoction to the temples, or simply smelling the aroma of rosemary has been linked to reducing the severity of migraine symptoms.
Add rosemary to the bathwater after a physically demanding day to soothe sore muscles and relieve tension. Add 50g to a litre of boiling water, cover and let it steep for 15 minutes before adding to the bath.

The most common usage is Tea from the dried Rosemary leaves. Add 2 gm of the dried leaves to a cup of boiling water. If you drink it regularly, you will know how refreshing it can be!
