Foot prints of Lava and Kusha

Finally was able to visit the Pradosha Shetram - Sri Pallikondeshwarar Temple at Surutapalli this morning.

Wonderful darshan. This is where Lord Shiva as Pallikondeeswarar is present in a reclining posture with His head on the lap of Goddess Parvathi, surrounded by all Gods, devars and rishis. You can find an assembly of the whole Kailasam around - something you will not find anywhere else. I could not take my eyes of the Lord, and the Gurukal had to literally chase me away!

Details about the temple can be found on the Internet.

Another divine darshan is of Lord Dakshinamoorthy with His consort on the outer wall of the suyambu Valmikeeswarar shrine. He is seated with his left leg raised and bent, with His consort peeping from behind, holding on to His left hand and shoulder for support. Such a divine beauty! There was not much crowd today, and I was able to spend quite sometime absorbing the divine darshan. Worship of this special roopam of "Thambadya Dakshinamoorthy" is said to bestow one with all desires especially marriage wishes, reunion of couples, etc. And why not? This special divine darshan is a must-see, and so beautiful!

Now coming to the purpose of this post - in front of the Sri Valmikeeswarar Shrine (a suyambu lingam in triangular shape), there is a stone with many foot prints of kids. It is said that when Sri Kanchi Maha Periva camped here sometime in the 70's, he showed a particular spot and asked people to dig it. When they did, they found this stone and Sri Mahaswami disclosed that the foot prints are those of Sri Rama's twins - Lava and Kusha.

I took a picture of this stone, ofcourse with permission. There is also a beautiful picture of Periva at the entrance to the Pallikondeeswarar shrine.

Pradosham darshan is very famous at this temple - wish I can go another time exclusively on a Pradosham day.

Cheers!
