Amusing English # 16 - Palindromes

Palindromes are words, phrases or number sequences that read the same way in both directions, left-to-right, and right-to-left.  Palindrome derives from the Greek for ‘running back again’. Both the Greeks and Romans are known to have enjoyed palindromes. The Greeks also published palindromic poetry. 

Single Word Palindromes
Some single word palindromes are: level, racecar, rotator, pip, radar, nun, mom, toot, deed, civic, eye, pop, malayalam, madam

Phrase Palindromes
A phrase that is palandomic is “never odd or even.” Read this phrase right-to-left, rearranging the spaces. Two other examples are “a Toyota,” and “Was it a rat I saw?”

Number Palindromes
Some example of palindromic numbers are: 55, 484, 3003, 29592
