Avathara Sthalam of His Holiness Sri Kanchi Maha Periva

Was blessed to visit the Avathra Sthalam of Sri Kanchi Mahaswami at Villupuram today. Had been wanting to go for a very long time, and managed to make it today with HIS blessings.

The Sankara Mutt of Kanchi Kamakoti Peedam functions in the same premises. If  you had been to Thenambakkam near Kanchi, you would have enjoyed the hospitality of the young veda patasala vidyarthis who take you around the premises and explain everything to you about Periva.

Here too, the young patasala students cheerfully talk about Mahaswami and explain to you the significance of the Avathara sthalam of Sri Maha Periva.  Unfortunately we did not get darshan of Sri Maha Periva's paduka which I understand is kept for public worship only on special occasions like Anusham, Pradosham, etc. Neverthless, we were blessed to witness the aarti to Sri Mahaswami's vigraham there. We were the only visitors and so had enough time and space to sit for sometime and meditate on HIM. Just the thought that this was the exact place where Sri Mahaswami lived with His poorvamsa parents brings tears to your eyes.

Here are some pictures:

We also wanted to visit the Adhishtanam of Sri Atma Bodhendra Saraswati Swamigal, the 58th Archarya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peedam. The Adhishtanam is located at Vadavambalam which is about 15 kms from the Avathara Sthalam of Periva.

Sri Atma Bodhendra Saraswathi Swamigal is the immediate guru of Sri Bagawannama Bodendra Saraswathi, the 59th Archarya of the Kanchi Mutt who attained siddhi at Govindapuram, near Kumbakonam. I have been there once.

We did not have any difficulty in locating the place, but renovation of the premises is going on and so did not have the opportunity to spend more time there. Adhishtanams of great mahans are powerful energy centers and there is always a lot of good vibration around. I would have loved to spend sometime in meditation. Hope to visit again later. This is the best picture I could get.

Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara!
